This spider was made for me by our local blacksmith Eric Grip.
It has an 8 inch heavy wrought steel flat bottom bowl
with legs and handle riveted on to stand about 2 inches above a bed of coals
While the bowl was machine made rather than hand
hammered, this skillet is a very close approximation of early locally made
cookware. It would not look out of place on an
18th century hearth.
