Frontier America Trading Company
Provisions
Our intention was to stock a few items that might have been
taken to the wilderness. The men on the frontier seldom carried any provisions.
At most, a little salt, some parched corn, and a bit of jerky. Living off the
land was the order of the day, feast or famine. In settled areas, the
opportunity to find provisions was greater. Of course the range of goods was
miniscule compared to today. There were no canned, frozen, prepackaged,
precooked, factory prepared foods just your basic dried, salted, brined,
or fresh in-season commodities.
Our original idea was to have
this section broken into the following parts.
Grains wheat,
corn, rice, barley, oats, rye, etc whole grain or milled

preserved veg
